When things are hard, talk to someone instead of keeping it to yourself - Funny Face

He stresses the value of asking for assistance and support as opposed to suppressing one's feelings.

Funny Face, whose full name is Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng, stressed in an exclusive interview with Giovani Caleb on TV3's Showbiz 360 that it is harmful to repress one's emotions when faced with hardships and life obstacles and can have serious implications, including death.

He exhorts people to lean on their professional, familial, or social support networks in order to get through difficult times in life.

A lot of people have heard of Funny Face's many personal struggles and mental health problems. He has advocated for self-care and mental wellness by drawing on his personal experiences.

In Ghana, the stigma attached to mental health issues has significantly decreased as a result of his story-telling and advocacy for candid discussions.

"Do you know what people are going through, that they are unable to express themselves?" he said. It is the reason of deaths. Talk to someone about everything you go through. Speak with someone when you are experiencing something you don't understand. I experienced it, but I kept it to myself. About three years ago, I started to bottle everything up when things started to become worse. I would have benefited if I had confided in someone."

Following a highly publicized divorce that saw him split from his wife and kids, Funny Face engaged in a string of shenanigans between 2020 and 2021 that resulted in the actor being made fun of on social media and even getting arrested.

He then disclosed that he was going through a depressive episode and had once considered suicide. But he's asked for assistance and says he's doing okay now.
