“I remain a record holder in spirit and in history”, she wrote on X on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

Hilda Baci provided clarification on her choice to alter her social media biographies, stating that she was merely adhering to custom, much as Indian chef Lata had updated hers after breaking a record earlier in the year. She made this statement in response to Alan Fisher's incredible achievement being formally recognized by Guinness World Records (GWR).

This week, GWR made an announcement on its official website that Alan Fisher had broken Hilda Baci's previous record for the longest cooking marathon, clocking in at 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan.

Hilda Baci of Nigeria, who had previously proudly flaunted her Guinness World Record holder title in her social media account, swiftly edited her bio after the formal announcement of Fisher's new record.

Hilda Baci however clarified her decision to amend her social media bios saying she was only following tradition just as Chef Lata from India had similarly updated her bio when her record was broken earlier in the year.

In her post, Hilda Baci stated, "Just as Chef Lata respectfully acknowledged the new record holder by updating her bio and later fine-tuning the wording, I've adjusted mine too."

She praised Alan Fisher's commitment and emphasized the immense effort and hard work it required for him to reach this culinary milestone.

“Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I know this firsthand. I have only the greatest admiration for the hard work it took for Alan to reach such heights. Sportsmanship is about recognizing progress, whether the accolade is in my bio or not. Let’s celebrate achievement and the spirit of competition.”
