With this exceptional accomplishment, a journalist from Ghana is named the first recipient of the "BBC News Komla Dumor Award," which was created in 2015 to pay tribute to the late broadcaster Komla Dumor.

The major presenter of the program "Focus on Africa" for BBC News was a well-known Ghanaian journalist by the name of Komla Dumor.

The famous annual prize is granted "to an outstanding individual living and working in Africa, who combines strong journalism skills, on-air flair, and an exceptional talent in telling African stories with the ambition and potential to become a star of the future."

Over the past seven years, the award has been given twice to Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia, respectively.

Access to the BBC's premier training facility in London is part of the award package for career advancement.

Paa Kwesi said he was really thrilled to receive the BBC News Komla Dumor Award and was grateful for the award.

As the first Ghanaian to receive the honor, I am humbled and grateful for God's favor. I think this is a turning point in my professional life. I have a lot of admiration and respect for Komla. He was someone I looked up to for inspiration, and I think his influence on my career as a journalist was for the better. Like Komla, neither of us were "out and out journalists" when we first entered the field, but we persisted in trying to change the industry," he said.
