We, Will, Use Our Monies To Purchase Toilet Rolls Than To pay E- Levy Tax - Obuasi Market Women

Some market women at Tutuka in the Obuasi East district of the Ashanti region are angry with the majority leader Hon. Osei kyei Mensah Bonsu for celebrating his 65 birthday with a customize controversial e-levy as a birthday cake.

They say it is a big insult to Ghanaians especially to them(market women )who are vulnerable in the country.

In an interview with the market women, they stressed that they will rather use the little money they earn to purchase toilet rolls than to use it to pay e-levy tax.

Some say life has become unbearable for them nowadays due to the high purchase of goods.

 
Mama Adiza, a smoked fish seller told Soireenews that they will refuse to pay the E - Levy ones the demonstration of the majority leader using it as birthday cake tells them their monies will be used for parties.

Rukaya a groundnut seller is asking the government to reflect on a promise made in 2016 regarding taxation. "They think we the market women are illiterate so they can impose any wish of their choice on us right, we have wards who knows how to read so they have assisted us to understand whatever is going in-country".

We do not pay e-levy today, tomorrow, or the next day. We pay for the shells we trade under every month, we pay for tickets every day is that not enough for this government Rukaya angrily asked.

We planned not to pay already, seeing the video and pictures of the minister making mockery on us with that e-levy cake has worsened the situation the traders stressed.
