Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has urged residents of the State that were yet to be administered the COVID-19 vaccination to avail themselves of the opportunity.

This is as he called for the continuous observation of all the COVID-19 safety precautions as Nigeria is experiencing the fourth wave of the virus, with the Omicron variant sweeping across the country.

Governor Oyetola made this known Tuesday, December 28, 2021, on the sideline of his being administered with the COVID-19 booster dose in Osogbo.

Receiving the booster dose, Oyetola testified that the vaccine was safe, adding that it strengthens the immune system and also gives additional protection against the virus.

The Governor, who revealed that he had earlier been administered with the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccination in March and June 2021, respectively, added that he decided to take the booster dose following its roll out in the State.

While appreciating the frontline health workers who have been working tirelessly to curtail the spread of the virus in the State, he encouraged residents to make themselves available for the vaccine.

In his words, “I have also directed that residents of Osun who have received their first and second doses should proceed to any of the state’s Focal Primary Healthcare Centres closer to them to take the booster shot.”

The Osun State Government had promised early in December that it will commence the administration of the booster jab in the State.

The rollout of the COVID-19 booster vaccine kicked off in Osun on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
