Corruption: Court Cashier Abscond With GHS 71.759k at Twifo Praso

A court accountant at the Twifo Praso Magistrate court, Clement Animabo has failed to account for an amount of ghs  71,759  out of ghs 220,046.10 collected as revenue.

Mr Clement, after confrontation by the Inter nal auditors, 148,287.10 into the designated Bank account leaving a difference of ghs 71,759.00

According to the Director of Finance of the Judicial service Mrs. Vera Tarkyi, all effort to get in touch with the aforementioned cashier has proven futile.

The director of finance disclosed that 10,000.00 out of the 71,759 has been paid, while his salary has been embargoed.

Upon further inquiry by the deputy Ranking member of PAC, Hon Kofi Okyere Agyekum, the director of finance told the committee that, the Judicial Service has put in place a mechanism to check the cash embezzlement by court cashiers such as financial officials providing guarantees before employment. 

The chairman of the committee, Hon James Avardzi Klutse has directed the said officer (Clement Animabo) to report himself to the committee's clerk to avoid any further strick actions.
