Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwaku Boadu Peprah, has assured Ghanaians of the police’s preparedness to ensure maximum security before, during and after the upcoming December 7 polls.

He disclosed that some personnel in the force have been trained purposely for the elections, on the orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh.

He announced that a total of 1,968 persons have been trained.

“IGP James Oppong-Boanuh has also given an approval to train another 2000 more men in addition to the number. As far as the election is concerned, I am optimistic we are very prepared,” he added.

DCOP Peprah noted this in an interview with Accra based Joynews after the police’s confidence building march today, September 21.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police also called on other security institutions for assistance during the general elections.

“Our 35,000 to 40,000 workforce is not enough to contain all 33,367 polling stations across the country,” he explained.
