Kalidou Koulibaly is set to remain at Napoli after Manchester City switched their interest in the centre back.

Pep Guardiola was interested in bringing the Senegalese to the Etihad after the end of last season. They were in the race with Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp’s side finally pulled the plug due to the asking price of the 29-year in a transfer market ridiculed by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Calciomercato.com, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has set the absolute minimum fee at €70m (£64m) without bonuses.

City considers the price expensive judging from the age of the Senegalese and have turned to Jules Kounde of Sevilla for a fee favourable for them.

The Citizens acquired Nathan Ake from Bournemouth for £41m and are not ready to spend more than £50m for a centre back.

A €55m for the French professional footballer has been rejected, with Sevilla expecting a 90m release clause from the Premier League club.
