The suspects were denied bail and the judge has adjourned the case on June 4, 2021.

The Volta Regional Police Command in Ho has arrested some twenty-one activists of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender society in Godokpui, a suburb of Ho where they were allegedly having a workshop on LGBTQI.

Barely 24 hours after their arrest, the activists were arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court for committal proceedings, they were charged with unlawful assembly.

Although the suspects applied for bail, the court presided over by Justice Felix Dadzomor has declined their application, and adjourned the case on June 4, 2021, sending the suspects to Police Custody. 

The Volta Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sargent Prince Dogbatse has been speaking to the news team after the court proceedings. 

He said the will appear before the court again before any other action to be taken by the law. He entreated all citizens to make information available for the security agencies should they see any unknown persons around their localities or Communities.

He assured the public that, the police service together with other security agencies are up to their task and will continue to protect the citizenry.
