The Public Relation Officer of Ghana National Fire Service, DO1 Ellis Robinson Okoe has explained that the institution is in turmoils after many of their Metropolitan Municipal District Assemblies(MMDAs) water tenders are beyond maintenance.

He was addressing the listeners of Daddy's FM 101.1fm morning show host, Abena Pokuaa, this morning June 1, 2021,  on the Begoro experienced over last week when their men arrived on a fire scenes with an Okada and others in a taxi.

He stated, that currently, the GNFS is in need of new water tenders as many of the district tenders are nonfunctional due to the non-availability of parts to replace broken ones.

He emphasized, that the standard operating procedure is a bit unfriendly to the current states where most water tenders keep breaking down on a regular basis and equipment, as well as parts, are not available too to replace.

He noted, that currently, some municipal and district assemblies are working without water tenders, and it is difficult also to get the nearest district when there is a fire outbreak somewhere because the distance between some district capitals are too far to arrive on time to quench of fire when the need arrives.

According to DO1 Robinson Okoe, plans are underway to resource the institution and he emphasized that the government of Ghana is in a process of bringing in new water tenders, adding that the institution will get new tenders to augment the already existing ones before January 2022.
