Ashanti Regional Minister upholds Asantehene during his 22nd Anniversary

Honourable Simon Osei Bonsu has commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the leadership qualities exhibited towards Ghana's development since he assumed as the Asantehene in Apirl 1999.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Honorable Simon Osei Mensah has hailed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his immense contribution to the development of Asanteman and Ghana as a whole as he marks his 22nd Anniversary.

Nana Osei Tutu II, enstooled on April 26, 1999 succeeded the late Otumfuo Opoku Ware II as the 16th King of Asanteman. He has since implemented and influenced the employment of foundations which has helped transform Ghana and the rest of the world through decision making, infrastructural establishment and counselling.

At a colourful grand durbar at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Monday, April 26, 2021, the Ashanti Regional Minister told Soireenews on the impact of the Asantehene during his 22 years reign which has helped influenced Ghana and the world.

According to him, the Otumfuo Education Fund set up to stop the decline in the standards of education by supplementing the efforts of the Central Government in the provision of quality education for all, especially, the people of Asanteman is key.

Honourable Simon Osei Mensah told that the initiative would have benefitted Asanteman the most but for the love of the King and the inspiration of his reign throughout Ghana, the help was extended across the country.

“Every Ghanaian benefit from the Otumfuo Education Fund. The fact that he is the Asantehene does not mean he is for Asantes. The Fund has been invested in the provision, renovation of school buildings, structures and facilities across Ghana and its augment government’s effort so much,” he said.

The Minister also praised Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu for investing in the area of health towards Ghanaians. He made known how the Asantehene has also help preach the message of peace across Ghana to shapen destinies. He cited that the intervention to bring peace to Dagbon during their chieftaincy dispute is a key picture which earned him an invitation to speak at the United Nation General Assembly.

In the area of social amenities and infrastructures in the Ashanti Region, he asserted that Otumfuo has collaborated with the government to effect developmental projects. He opened that the Kejetia project was under the auspices of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II through the government and a Brazilian company to make it possible.

“The phase II project of the Kumasi International Airport is also one, plus the Boankra inland port,” he said.

“The 55m euro for the 100-kilometre road in Kumasi is also another. He has played a key role in the development of the Ashanti Region

“May God continues to bless his kingship,” he added.
