The Government of Population Census Statistician, Mr Samuel Kobina Annin has charged over 247 participants with 18 Master trainers undergoing eight days of training to be equipped to carry out a successful 2021 Population and Housing Census.

He also advised them to be good communicators and ambassadors to defend and explain the need for the exercise to Ghanaians from June to July 2021 across the country.

In an opening ceremony in the Volta region, Mr Samuel Kobina Annin has charged participants from the Eastern, Oti and Volta Region to be equipped and familiarise with the things they will be taken through to enable them to go out there and carry out a successful exercise.

Speaking at the ceremony, he said, they are to explain to the people the reason why it is needed for everyone to be counted as a Ghanaian and why everybody must be counted without leaving anyone uncounted.

Mr Annin pleaded with the participants to carry out the information to their various communities and churches to help explain to their congregants before the exercise rollout in June.

He said the launching day marks the 80th day to the census night and activities will be carried out without an issue of postponement.
According to Mr Samuel Kobina Annin, the Vice President, Dr Bawumia has set the paste for the exercise hence no postponement.

Speaking on the preparedness of the Population and Housing Census to carry out the exercise, Mr Christ Amewu the coordinator of the exercise said, this training will enhance and improve the quality of the exercise and those undergoing the training now, will be equipped to go and train their Regional trainers, who will also train the district trainer.

Mr Christ Amewu, therefore, called on all citizens to make themselves available and help the Officials to carry out a successful exercise.

He said the team is ready for the exercise though there are few challenges.

He finally challenged the officials to have time and Patience to explain to the people they need for the exercise and why they must be counted.
Regarding the Covid-19 protocols, he said, the officials will take the jab before going to the field.
