TATU: Media and Communication Studies Department t organizes football match

Department of Media and Communication Studies of the Tamale Technical University (TATu) has organized a one-day maiden inter-classes football match.

The participating classes that locked horns with each other include the level 100, level 200, and l 300 students respectively.

Addressing Journalists after the game, Sports Secretary of the Department, Mr. Yussif Abubakar Sadiq (Offer) said the football match is aimed to foster togetherness and unity among the students.

According to him, the game also seeks to figure out competent players for the department and the Tamale Technical University at large.

“The brain behind the football is to get a solid team for the department and the school, another sign of the game is to help us socialize and also foster unity among us, you know, the level hundred just reported, so we need to bring them together to socialize and know ourselves better, it will be unfortunate to meet your colleague and you won't able to make the fellow up, very soon we will be going for the departmental games, base on the performance here it indicates that we have a very strong team as a department”.

He further expressed appreciation to the University authorities especially the Dean and Head of the Department for their immense support before and during the match.

A senior lecturer at the University, Mr. Ben Adom lauded the idea of using sports to unify the student body but was quick to raise a concern about the low turnout.

According to him, some of the students who played performed very well, just that they don't train to be more professionals.

He tasked the Sports Secretary of the Department and his team to include other sporting activities such as basketball and Volleyball in their subsequent matches.

Meanwhile, the level 200 of the department managed to beat their rivals with a commanding goal and were later crowned champions of the Department.

As part of their bragging right, they were offered a cup, medals, champagne, and biscuits.
