The St. Charles Minor Seminary Senior High School in Tamale of the Northern region has been hit by a fire outbreak destroying several properties.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Polycarp Deyele has confirmed the fire outbreak in the school to Soireenews reporter Abdul Sammed Gurundari.

In narrating the incident, Mr Polycarp said this current fire outbreak is the fourth time it has occurred in the history of the school.

He said the block that got affected by the fire was built by the Parents and Teacher Association, PTA with two (2) offices occupying the PTA Secretary and the Head of department social science.

The classrooms in the block are not in use, so the school authorities decided to use one of the rooms to store mattresses, textbooks, hoes, brooms, ceiling brushes and fence wires.

All the items in the room were completely destroyed by the fire.

According to the headmaster, they ended a church service on Sunday and after reaching his bungalow a staff called him to inform that one of the school blocks is on fire. “we just ended a church service with the students and when I got to my bungalow one of my staff called me that is the English teacher to tell me that the PTA block is on fire, so I was shocked” Mr Polycarp recounted.

The headmaster placed a call to the Ghana Fire service who respond swiftly and was able to save the other classrooms.

He said the school authorities have set up two committees to investigate the matter; one of the committees is made up of only students and the other, some staff members.

Reports are expected to be submitted in a week time.
