Spain top Group E with 19 points - five clear of second-placed Sweden whiles Norway kept their hopes of automatic qualification alive ahead of facing third-placed Romania on Tuesday.

Spain's 100 per cent qualifying record came to an end as Saul Niguez's 47th-minute opener was cancelled out in stoppage time by Joshua King's penalty.

Spain nearly took the lead in the very first minute in Oslo as Norway goalkeeper Rune Jarstein saved Mikel Oyarzabal shot from the byline.

The host's call for a penalty was denied in the 7-minute by referee Michael Oliver - Bournemouth forward Joshua King led the line for Norway as he went down claiming Sergio Ramos pulled his shirt, but the referee waved away his protests.

Jesus Navas got to the byline for Spain and very nearly picked out Rodrigo in the centre for their first goal. The Spanish dominated possession, with 68 per cent of the ball, but Norway stood firm as at the 20-minute.

Norway was forced into a first-half change. Arsenal and West Ham old boy Havard Nordtveit headed down the tunnel holding his ribs. He took a bang when Rodrigo nearly scored in that incident mentioned earlier. Even Hovland replaced him.

The home side grew into this contest in Oslo they played with joy in the last five minutes. Their effort almost paid as they progressed forward but Omar Elabdellaoui shot into the gloves of Kepa. Josh King was shown a yellow card after leaving his foot on Dani Ceballos.

Spain scored the first goal of the game in two minutes after the restart. It was a lovely give-and-go from Saul Niguez and Sergio Busquets with the Atletico Madrid man unleashing a dipping shot that bounced just in front of Rune Jarstein and flew up off his gloves and into the roof of the net.

La Roca almost doubled the lead in the 69-minute through Ruiz. The Italian who plays for Napoli chopped inside onto his left foot and curled a wonderful effort that skimmed the top of the bar with Jarstein just reduced to watching that. Norway unleashed a quiet impressing press towards the visitors in search of an equalizer but thanks to Saul once more as he was in the right place to block the shot from Ole Selnaes after an excellent knock-down from Alexander Sorloth.

Norway kept threatening the Spanish but their crack was finally rewarded through a penalty in additional time after Kepa collided with Omar Elabdellaoui clumsily inside the box and Michael Oliver showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
