Mohamed Salah could be heading out of Liverpool sooner than later.

The Egyptian is reported not happy at Anfield and would like to welcome a new environment despite his improving performance on the field.

The forward in an interview with Spanish outlet AS (via The Metro)last week revealed his frustration when he was denied captain’s armband in the Reds Champions league fixture against FC Midtjylland three weeks ago in Denmark.

With Jordan Henderson and James Milner sidelined, in the absence of Virgil van Dijk through injury, the 28-year old thought he was next in line to lead the side but was surprised to see local born, Trent Arnold Alexander mandated.

“Honestly, I was very disappointed. I was hoping to be the captain, but it’s a coach’s decision. I accept it,” Salah told.

The how long he would stay with the Reds was uncertain despite his desire to win trophies with the Champions before his contract runs out in 2023 with a possible destination to Spain.

“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs. Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again.

“That’s a tough question [how long I will stay at Liverpool], but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club. Of course, I want to break records here and, I repeat, all the club records, but everything is in the hands of the club.”

Salah’s former national teammate, Mohamed Aboutrika has echoed into the matter and given a more definitive stand of the Egyptian’s future and what is at stake for him. According to him, Liverpool will sell their forward and won’t wait for his contract the runout to avoid him leaving for free after 2023.

“I called Salah about his situation at Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the field.

“I know that Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secrets and I cannot talk about it in public. One of the reasons that made Salah angry was that he was not the captain against Midtjylland.

“If Salah was a player at Real Madrid or Barcelona, and playing at the same level as Liverpool, he would've won the Ballon d'Or, and it is normal for a Spanish newspaper to ask Salah about Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“In my opinion, Liverpool are considering selling Salah for economic purposes.

“I do not have any influence over Salah's decisions, he is my friend and brother, and he is smart enough to know what is best for him.”
