"Osiesie Oman and Ahotorhene" Dr Duffour bemoans deteriorating plightof old cadres

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flag-bearer hopeful, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has bemoaned the deteriorating plights of old NDC cadres and pledged to improve their lot by setting up a fund.

The package, he said, will restore hope to old NDC cadres and prolong the lifespan of the group. According to him, this fund will be tailored to serve both the health needs and alleviate the poverty among the cadres. Dr Duffour made the disclosure while addressing delegates during his Greater Accra tour. He encouraged the delegates to vote for him to lead the party to victory in 2024 so he can implement his life-changing policies. Dr Duffuor, who has gained a new household name, “Osiesie Oman and Ahotorhene,” in an interaction with the delegates stressed that he has the track record of reviving dwindling economic growth of both the individual and the nation at large. Having received the Best African Finance Minister award in London in 2011 was not a fluke, he said. He said great and outstanding performances catch the attention of rewards and, therefore, appealed for the support of the NDC delegates across the country. To revive the economic fortunes of the country, the former finance minister said it will take an innovative, committed, financial discipline and a well-cultured financial management. Dr Duffuor, who has made the strongest-ever bid to replace John Dramani Mahama as leader and flag-bearer of the NDC, has pledged to tackle women and youth issues within the NDC. He has stated that women are the backbone of the family, the NDC and the nation, hence women and youth empowerment were key to the resuscitation of Ghana’s ailing economy. He pledged to promote schemes that will make resources available to enterprising women and youth of the party, to create jobs for themselves and others. He also reiterated that ailing and mismanaged state enterprises like the Tema Oil Refinery will be revived to provide job opportunities to the unemployed, especially the youth who have had no employment avenues for long periods after graduation. The NDC flag bearer hopeful hinted further that his government has resolved to create the opportunity for the youth to take up leadership positions to build their managerial skills. Furthermore, Dr. Duffuor indicated that he will resuscitate the NDC Heroes Fund established under President Mills.
