Mr Ebenezer Bafoe Mensah, Area Audit Supervisor for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Bono Region has called on the general public to take advantage of the Ghana card since its pin will be used to replace the TIN number.

He added that his outfit will not register any organization that does not have the Ghana Card.

The Ghana Revenue Authority replaced the Tax Identification Number (TIN) system with the National Identification Numbers (Ghana Card PIN) effective April 1, 2021.

A joint statement issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), National Identification Authority (NIA), and the Registrar Generals Department (RGD) said “the change is in line with Government’s policy on the use of a unique identifier for all transactions where the identification of an individual is required.”

According to Mr Ebenezer Bafoe Mensah, the move comes to enable the GRA to expand the tax net from three to sixteen million and shore government revenue generation.

It is also to enable Ghanaians to register their businesses and file their tax returns with ease.
