#OccupyBoGdemo: CMD chides NDC leadership for bulging to police pressure

The Caucus for Mature Democrats - CMD has sadly noticed with disappointment yet again, the failure of the leadership of NDC, who the majority of Ghanaians believe are the pacesetters of the democracy and constitutional governance in Ghana, to stick to their original well-thought-out route, to demonstrate against the BoG Governor and deputies.

For the CMD, the decision to stage a protest was in the best interest of the constitution, democracy, and the citizens.

But unfortunately, the organizers have yielded to what it termed unconstitutional, undemocratic interruption and violation by the police service, to illegally change the route for the intended demonstration.

"Many grassroots members of the NDC and majority of peace-loving and patriotic Ghanaians, are expressing their disappointment and revulsion for NDC, our only hope in the rescue Ghana mission against the unconstitutional and undemocratic rule of the Akufo Addo's NPP government who willfully collapsed the economy as well as Bank of Ghana", the CDM expressed disgust.

The demonstration was spearheaded by NDC, other political parties, and some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) including CMD, who could not understand why its leadership had sadly fallen to the whims and caprices of the police service.

The police, with a last-minute order skewing to change the route for the occupied Bank of Ghana demonstration which aimed at getting the failed governor of the Bank of Ghana and his deputies out of office, is unfortunate.

The Governor in collaboration with his deputies and the express connivance illegally printed money for the government without parliamentary approval, an Act contrary to laid down procedures as enshrined in the constitution of the country.

"We hold the view that Akufo Addo's packing of the judiciary with NPP functionaries to subvert and twist judgments of the judiciary is unacceptable.

Sadly, active police people in uniform are saying they are strong NPP members and have long been working in the interest of the ruling government, instead of working in the interest of Ghana", CDM bemoaned.

The CDM added, "The belligerent and arrogant posture of Jean Mensah, the electoral commissioner, and the insensitivity of other commissioners of the EC to the suffering of young Ghanaians who are ready to get their names onto the voter roll upon attaining the age of 18 years; and packing the national security with NPP operatives, all points to the fact that; the democracy of Ghana is fast becoming the Eyadema type of rule of Togo".

The Caucus undoubtedly agrees with all the above pointers indicating that Ghana is under the rule of tyranny or autocracy as opposed to democracy and constitutional governance.

The CDM opined that the time has come for those negative tendencies to be nipped in the bud with fearless resistance, anger, and full revulsion as the National Anthem enjoins citizens to resist oppressors' rule.

"The police have no such power or authority to even think of injunctions on behalf of the few wicked ruling elites who don't pay taxes as we those who sought to protest do. Instead of working in the best interest of the state and the citizenry whose taxes are used to cloth and arm Ghana police personnel, they have chosen to hold allegiance to nation wreckers in power", it berated.

The CDM is urging the police to take adequate mental note of the fact that, it is not the taxes of the president, nor his ministers or the judiciary they seek the injunction from, that is used to resource their institution. Rather, it is the taxes of the good people of Ghana who are made to suffer and die of hunger every passing day; all due to the mismanagement and corruption of President Akufo Addo; governor of Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison; his deputies; Ken Ofori Atta, the finance minister and the few corrupt incompetent people in government who have willfully and arrogantly rundown the economy and the Bank of Ghana by their refusal to heed advise of development partners, Ghanaians and the parliament of Ghana.

"We, as a Caucus advocating for good practices of democracy, probity, accountability, good governance, and social justice, want to add our voices to what has been expressed above and urge the NDC NEVER TO let the people of Ghana down by fallen prey to peace without justice and accountable governance as exhibited with impunity by the akufo Addo led government continuously", it said in a statement.

"The action in parliament has also never been encouraging enough to the good people of Ghana in the past few years including the Caucus with a split 137:137 members from both sides in parliament. Ghanaians were compelled to swallow the bitter pills of disappointments and anger, following the approvals of Hawa Coomson, Ken Ofori Atta, Ursula Owusu, KT Hammond the drill ship salesman, and a few first-term woefully failed ministers we may not have mentioned in this press statement", it added.

"How could the leadership of NDC be in parliament and NPP managed to get the approval of SUCH WOEFULLY FAILED ministers, remains a mystery and torn in the flesh of patriotic, peace-loving, and constitutional rule-believing Ghanaians!!! The caucus fully believes the above needless approvals are the reasons why, we have a collapsed economy and a liquidity insolvent Bank of Ghana (BOG) in our hands today, while President Akufo Addo, his ministers like Cecilia Dapaah, Ken Ofori Atta, and others, get richer and richer daily in their private Banks under their beds in their bedrooms than even the central bank of Ghana", CMD decried.

"Posterity will never treat leadership of the NDC lightly, should they allow the democracy of Ghana to be turned to the likes of the Eyadema's several years rule of Togo by the akufo addo led corrupt, criminals and failed group of thieves", it said.

The CDM proposed that to prevent and protect this from happening, NDC, CSOs, chiefs, traditional leaders, religious bodies, and the National Peace Council, with the support of patriotic and nationalistic Ghanaians who have seen the dangerous path the Akufo Addo-led government is paving for mother Ghana, must take the front burner in ensuring sanity.

In conclusion, the Caucus would like to make it clear to the police service as a state institution that, under no circumstance can they team up in support of either the Executive, the Judiciary, or the Legislature against the sovereign people whose taxes are used to pay and resource them, will ever succeed.

"It must therefore be considered as a communal labor and a national duty for all of us to come to the rescue of Ghana together, because "where we gonna run go, after making our motherland a bitter place to live"? We can do it together because, we are indeed, and in no doubt, Stronger Together", CDM added.
