The Obuasi East District Assembly building roofing has been ripped off after few minutes of rainfall.

The Assembly which was split from Obuasi Municipal in 2017 has since been using a place gifted to them by Anglogold Ashanti as works are ongoing on their building.

The rains started at 5 pm on Wednesday, January 13 and lasted about twenty minutes, but was preceded by heavy lightning and thunder which is believed to be the root cause of the havoc.

The Assembly was not the only victim of the rain, about 10 other houses were also affected leaving tens displaced without a shelter at PTP, a suburb in Obuasi.
