Cattle have destroyed thousand hectares of farms at Anama, Salamkrom, Kyekyewere and  Makyinimabre - sub-communities in Nkoranza on Thursday, Friday, February 4, 2021, at the South Municipality of Bono East Region.

Farmers have disclosed that all their purchased crops such as cashew nut, yams, maize and vegetables acquired from monies borrowed from banks including water bodies for farming have been ruined.

The community members lamented that security agents in the Municipality have disappointed following refusal to be on guard against the traditionally nomadic cattle herders.

One Madam Adwoa Serwaah speaking g to Soireenews 24 told they're working tediously to fight the Fulani herdsmen through judiciary next month meanwhile the Assemblymember of the Area, Honourable Peter Sanguru has advised that waging war against the Fulanis won't solve the challenge since they have hidden weapons ready to put up a fight whenever it is presented.

He told that half of the cattle have been driven to Ejura and Asante Akyem and the herdsmen have also promised to leave within days.

They have therefore called on security bodies to intervene to make their communities safe and peaceful.

The Nkoranza South Municipal Police Commander, DSP Wisdom Diaba told Soireenews that patrol teams are working together with the Municipal Chief Executive to drive away the animals to far lands.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Diana Ataa Kusiwaa said she is collaborating with the chiefs and security personals for reliable solutions to the challenge.

She has therefore urged residents to stay calm.
