Nominations for the Ghana Music Awards are determined by industry ties rather than diligence - Buddy Roro

Buddy RoRo, a sound engineer, producer, and performer from Ghana, has strongly criticized the nomination process for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) this year.

Nominations for the Ghana Music Awards are determined by industry ties rather than diligence - Buddy Roro

In his opinion, the list of nominees for the prestigious music awards was not assembled with proper research.

The reason for his discontent is that "Style Bia Bi," a song by artist Great Ampong, was left off of the list of nominees.

He predicted that the song would be nominated for both Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Artiste at the forthcoming 25th Ghana Music Awards since it had garnered a lot of attention and generated ripples throughout 2023.

Buddy RoRo expressed his disappointment on social media and questioned the TGMA board's decision-making process. He posed a hypothetical question on whether the other gospel category nominees had written songs that had a bigger influence and more traction than Great Ampong's "Style Bia Bi."

In a Facebook post, he wrote: “I laugh saaa herrrrrrr Ghana Music Awards de3 if you’re not in their books forget oo(get in their books, cough, get nominated and even win).

“so you guys mean all the artists in the gospel categories had songs and numbers bigger than Great Ampong’s style bia bi.herrrr which gospel song in 2023 really started trends and got everybody talking.

“a song with almost millions of views on YouTube and over a million plays didn’t even qualify to be nominated.????????????????????????.you guys should keep working with emotions.

“Anyway guys we dropping a new Banger soon.you know how we do it????????????????????”.
