New voters' register: Mahama exaggerating 'missing' names - John Boadu

The General Secretary of NPP, John Boadu, says the NDC's flagbearer, John Mahama  is exaggerating the incidence of 'missing' names in the country's new electoral role.

John Boadu said the NDC should stop claiming that the Electoral Commission (EC) has eliminated names of NDC supporters from the voter register.

According to the NPP scribe, his party is equally affected by the development hence it was false that the EC was targeting the opposition party.

Per an article by theghanareport.com, John Boadu said in the Akuapim South Constituency, about 141 people had their names missing from the register when they went to verify after the EC started the exhibition exercise.

“You cannot say this is an NDC stronghold,” Mr Boadu stated.

He also cited the Upper Denkyira West, where the number of people who registered was over 700 but only 200 names were found.

Both constituencies are NPP strongholds as no one from the NDC has ever held those seats in the political history of the country.

Mr Boadu criticised the “unfortunate attitude of the NDC sometimes” which he said sometimes escalated issues.

He charged his political rivals to commit to proposed solutions “instead of casting insinuations and alleging of connivance between government and the EC”.

Turning his attention to the election management body, Mr Boadu said: “We will still be on them to ensure a smooth and fair election”.

He said the EC “has to go the extra mile to ensure that they work within the law” to ensure “that nobody is disqualified if the person is qualified to register”.
