A 21 year old mechanic who was charged by the Ashaiman Circuit court has been remanded in police custody to re-appear on the 23 June,2022.

A 21-year mechanic has been remanded today, June 13, 2022, in police custody by the Ashaiman Circuit court for causing harm contrary to section 69 of the criminal offenses Act 1960(Act 29).

He is to reappear in court on June 23, 2022, for cross-examinations. His Honour Richard Delali Anku found the accused Issah Seidu, guilty upon his guilty plea and was subsequently remanded for intentionally and unlawfully causing harm to one Musah Mohammed by hitting his jaw with a pistol.

Presenting the brief fact of the case, Chief Inspector Nunoo Mensah told the court that the complainant Musah Mohammed, age 26 who is a driver's mate and resident of Zongo Laka, a suburb of Ashaiman whilst the accused Issah Mohammed, age 21, who is a mechanic lives at Tsinagbe also a suburb of Ashaiman.

He said on March 6, 2022, around 9:00 pm, the complainant's friend, Seidu had a misunderstanding with the accused at a drinking spot at Tsinagbe which drew the attention of the complainant to the scene to separate them and rebuked the accused.

But around 3:00 am the following day, he continued that while the complainant was on his way home and upon reaching a junction leading to the Ashaiman Main Market, the accused attacked and hit his jaw with a pistol making the complainant collapse.

He said the complainant was quickly rushed to the Crystal Clinic for medical treatment and later transferred to the Tema General hospital for further treatment. The complainant, according to the prosecutor complained to the police and he was issued an ice medical form to seek medical attention at the hospital.

He said upon attention to the hospital, the medical form was duly endorsed by the medical officer who attended to him. The accused after committing the crime, he revealed, went into hiding until he resurfaced in town on March 21, 2022, when the complainant with the assistance of the neighborhood committee arrested and handled him over to the police for further investigations.

He said after investigations, the accused person was charged with the offense to appear before the honorable court.
