Residents Kakpayili a community in the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region of Ghana have expressed worry about a refuse site that has become a foothill.

The refuse heap, which serves the Kakpayili community has been in use for decades.

The site is used for dumping off all kinds of waste materials including solid waste such as used bottles, plastic bags as well as waste from various household activities.

Speaking to SN24 in an interview some residents who live around the waste site recounted bitterly of a strong distinctive stink that springs from the waste dump.

They said the garbage heap has erupted many airborne diseases putting their health at risk.

They however appealed to the Tamale Metro Authorities to evacuate the garbage site then place a metal container for use.
