Water crisis hits Kasoa Opeakuma

Kasoa Opeikuma is one of the fast-developing communities in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central region.

It's quite densely populated because of the proximity to Accra and cheaper renting of houses but it is largely deprived as a result of being neglected by the government over the years.

Many access roads are untarred, ridden with potholes while uncompleted drain projects have turned into gullies as a result of erosion during heavy downpours.

Besides, sanitation management is also another major challenge. Residents have turned outskirts into dumping grounds exposing them to communicable diseases.

Residents are bitter about the neglect and are now speaking out for help.

They claim access to potable water is making life even worse. Students have to commute long distances in search of free water because hand-dug wells are now running dry.

Some according to those who spoke to Central regional correspondent Alex return after midday and that affects attendance to school.

This resident, who is into the water business now says suppliers are reluctant because of the bad roads.

They now want Honourable Hawa Koomson to lead efforts to push the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly to provide easy access to potable water.
