Implementing E levy will collapse private businesses”- Businessman to gov’t

A businessman Emmanuel Owusu Ansah popularly known as Drum Dee who deals in instrumentals says, the introduction of the e- levy will collapse businesses in the private sector of the economy.

He said though the levy if managed well could enhance socio-economic development it could also cripple the engine growth of the economy thus the private sector if concerns raised by businessmen are not addressed.
He stressed that government needs money in the form of taxes to fund developmental projects and urged it to explore other areas of raising avenues apart from the levy
He noted that over time the trust of Ghanaians in the government's judicious use of taxes had waned and said there was the need for the government to make good use of the taxes collected.
According to him, many are not in support of the levy because citizens do not get to enjoy the benefits that come with paying taxes, urging the government to abort plans of introducing the policy.
Mr. Owusu Ansah categorically stated that the country does not have a stable economic system and the currency exchange rate in the country is killing private businesses. He added the currency crash in the country has led to the collapse of businesses that import goods from other countries.
He called on the government to reconsider its decision of implementing the e levy to lose the burden on businessmen in the country.
