Drivers plying on the Goaso- Kumasi road have alerted the government to come to their aid.

Drivers and residents who ply the Goaso-Kumasi road in the Ahafo Region have appealed to government to resolve their road challenges.

According to them, the pothole roads have made commuting in the Region challenging and discomfiting as some of the residents accused the contractor, Kofi Job for the delays which have contributed to the frequent breakdown of their vehicles and high cost of maintenance.

They bemoaned how promises made to them by successive governments have not seen the light of day with the recent being the New Patriotic Party but are yet to see any action.

“We always visit the mechanic anytime we use the road because of breakdown. We sometimes do not want to use the road at all.

"We are urging our authorities to fix the roads for us. The potholes can easily cause accidents especially in such a time of rain.”

The driver's also blamed road authorities for the high rate of accidents saying, it is their mandate to construct better and durable roads across the country yet they brush off their shame with shoddy works after been given the mandate.

“It is about time the roads authorities get out from the airy condition office and work because they supposed to work outside not inside”, they said.

The station Master of the Goaso Ghana Private Road Transport Union of Trade Union Congress, Mr Samuel Agyare added that motor accidents are rampant on the road because of its deplorable nature.

He told that some accidents could be avoided yet road users attempt to dodge potholes easily results in another.

"I am therefore calling on the government to come to our aid and to put pressure on the contractor to expedite work on the road,” he pleaded.
