Ga West MCE Promises Influx Of Development Projects Under Mahama Government
Mr. Sowah Nai said the Assembly, with support from the Common Fund and other government interventions, has undertaken projects in education, healthcare, water and other sectors.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Ga West Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, has highlighted a number of infrastructure projects being undertaken in the municipality, saying more development projects are expected in the coming months.
Speaking at a commissioning and handing-over ceremony on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the MCE said the projects are in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of expanding development and infrastructure across communities under the government’s decentralisation agenda.
Mr. Sowah Nai said the Assembly, with support from the Common Fund and other government interventions, has undertaken projects in education, healthcare, water and other sectors.
According to him, some of the projects were initiated by the previous NPP administration but were subsequently taken over and redesigned for completion, while others were started from scratch by the current administration.
He cited the construction of a *six-unit storey classroom block at Manhean, a six-unit classroom block at Afuaman, Adjen Kotoku 2 storey 6 unit, teachers’ bungalows, healthcare facilities, CHPS compounds and boreholes across several electoral areas.*
The MCE said the projects form part of efforts to provide basic amenities to communities, particularly those in remote areas, and bridge the development gap.
He also disclosed that additional projects are scheduled for commissioning next week, including other chiefs’ compounds and water projects.
Hon. Sowah Nai further announced that the Assembly will, on Friday, cut sod for the construction of a major 24-hour economy market, describing it as part of the government’s broader development agenda.
He said roads and other major infrastructure projects are also expected to receive attention as the government pursues its commitment to making Ghana a major construction site.
The Ga West MCE expressed appreciation to assembly members, staff, traditional authorities, religious leaders and other stakeholders for supporting the Assembly’s development programmes.
He assured residents that the projects currently underway are only the beginning, stressing that more development initiatives are expected before the end of the government’s term in 2028
