Dormaa West DCE And Bono Regional  Agriculture Director  Outline Plans  -To Implement 1D1F Programme In Nkrankwanta
THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for
Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region, Mr Francis Kwadwo Oppong, has called for strong cooperation and support of all stakeholders, especially chiefs and people, to enable him implement the One-District- One Factory (1D1F) government flagship programme to support the farmers in Nkrankwanta and its adjoining communities.
The hard working DCE mentioned that one of his top priorities was to ensure safety of the farming activities of the farmers to help create more jobs for the teeming youth in his district, the current development which has informed his decision to support agriculture activities of the farmers in his district.
The One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative is the vision of His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to change the nature of Ghana’s economy from one which is dependent on import and export of raw material to one which is focused on manufacturing, value addition and export of processed goods.

These raw materials are largely found in the districts which would have otherwise gone waste.

The initiative as proposed by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is private sector led. Government creates the necessary conducive environment for the businesses to access funding from financial institutions and other support services from Government agencies to establish factories.

Ghanaian entrepreneurs will thus own the companies, operate them and bear all the risks and rewards of the projects.

However, to push the 1D1F agenda effectively in his district to benefit the farmers, the Bono Regional Agriculture Director, Mr. Dennis Amenge, and  Dormaa West District Chief Executive Mr Francis Kwadwo Oppong have discussed amongst other things how his outfit and the Assembly can secure a tractor for the One-District- One Factory at Nkrankwanta.
In the meeting of the two prominent personalities, they also discussed how farmers in the District can use the existing tractors for their farming purposes to increase their yield.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com after the meeting, the Dorman West DCE outlined plans to effectively support government’s efforts to make agriculture attractive by way of safeguarding the farms of the farmers in his district.
He called on residents to support the efforts of Assembly to make agriculture attractive and help reduce unemployment in the district as well the country as a whole.

He indicated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government has provided some interventions in the agriculture sector such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, among other programmes to create job avenues for the youth.
He said the contribution of agriculture to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) could not be over emphasised and that with the right policies and adequate budgetary provision, the sector would provide the impetus for rapid industrialisation of the country.

He said the Planting for Food and Jobs programme were anchored on five areas and these include the provision of improved seeds, fertilizers, keen extension services, sustainable marketing strategies and infusion of electronic platform in agriculture.
In this sense Mr Francis Oppong called for strong cooperation and support of all stakeholders, especially chiefs and people, to enable him deliver to the developmental aspiration of the people.
According to the DCE, the development of the communities in the district could be realized only when all the key stakeholders complement his efforts and that of the government towards the implementation of Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda, aimed at bringing the needed socio-economic and infrastructural development to the people.
The Dorman West DCE appealed to the traditional authorities, religious bodies, security agencies, civil society organizations, the youth groups and other stakeholders to maintain the prevailing peace and security in the district for an accelerated socio-economic development.

He mentioned that his administration's topmost priority was to address issues related to agriculture,  food security, road network, inadequate water supply, self-housing settlement and the unemployment situation among the youth in the district.
He said his administration would also ensure peace and promotion of rapid development and called the stakesholders to support him to bring the needed development to the district.
