Information from Kwahu East Municipality Directorate of Health has revealed that about fifteen (15) students of St Peter’s Senior High School in the Municipality of the Eastern region of Ghana are currently under quarantine, following a sick student who tested positive for the deadly virus.

A close source from a day student who spoke on anonymity said, about 27 students of the school were exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 over a week, and the Ghana Health Service was slow in responding after formal reports were sent from the school authorities, but GHS responded late to ascertain the situation.

"A parent whose children at the school kept falling ill took one of them for testing, where he tested positive for the virus".

It was after the student tested positive that the Kwahu East Municipal Health Directorate went to the school to take samples of 15 students and quarantined them.

The Kwahu East Municipal Health Director told the media, that the situation is under control hence urged parents to remain calm.

He however said the health Directorate was waiting for the results for the next action.

A student totalling 705, have tested positive for the virus in all 33 Districts and municipalities in the Eastern Region as of July 25, 2021. No fatalities were recorded during the period.
