Dagbon Traditional Council launches the Dagbon Development Fund

The Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom and also the President of the Dagbon traditional council Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II says this will bring co-existence between the people and the law enforcement agencies especially the Police service.

The Dagbon Traditional Council has successfully launched the Dagbon Development Fund to accelerate the development drive of the kingdom.

The fund has been the first of its kind since the Dagbon Kingdom suffered building a peaceful process for almost 21 years following the eruption of the 2001 conflict.

The Overlord of Dagbon Kingdom and also the President of the Dagbon traditional council Yaa-Naa Abukari Mahama II through his Public Relations Officer, Mr Musah Yakubu who read his speech, called on the people of the Kingdom to be united irrespective of their individual difference in quest of developing the traditional area.

He said the fund would use to rebuild a modern edifice of the Gbewaa palace which would also be the Dagbon Traditional Council.

Mr Musah said the Overlord is calling for co-existence between the people and the law enforcement agencies especially the Police service.

Few areas have within Tamale township including Changli, Salamba, Kakpagyili among many have suffered police brutalities meted to the public and therefore calling on the Inspector of police and the Regional Police Command to ensure a cordial and harmonious civilian-police relation.

The Dagbon Development Fund would focus on seventeen (17) thematic areas in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDG’s including eliminating poverty, erase hunger, establish Good health and well-being, provide quality Education and enforce gender equality.

The rest are improved clean water and sanitation, grow affordable and clean energy, create decent work and economic growth, mobilize sustainable cities and communities and reduce inequality amongst many.

The launch was a joint programme that hosted members of the Dagbon Traditional Council to hold its meeting to set up committees of the council and also to outdoor the Dagbon Development Fund.

The program was held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Global Dream Hotel in Tamale which brought together sons and daughters of Dagbon.
