Gbewaa Palace to get befitted Museum by End of 2021 - Tourism Minister Assures

The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, promised to develop all these sites so that Dagbon will benefit fully from them.

The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has begun exploring tourism potentials and opportunities in the Northern Region.

As part of his exploration, he paid a courtesy call on the king of Dagbon, Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II at the Gbewaa Palace.

His visit to the Gbewaa Palace seeks to solicit the support of the King and stakeholders of the Traditional area as he unfolds plans of the Tourism industry.

The King through an interpreter urged the Minister to ensure that all the potential tourist sites in the region are fully harnessed to the benefit of the teeming masses.

He tasked the Minister to put Dagbon on the radar for development.

The Minister reiterated his efforts at ensuring that all potential tourism sites in Dagbon would be fully developed.

Alhaji Awal assured the King that a museum will be built at the Gbewaa palace by the end of 2021.

Together with his entourage, Dr Awal visited the site of the Greenwich Meridian line which passes through Yendi to Tema. 

He also visited the ancient Germany cemetery in Yendi, where some Germans were buried in the 18th century.  

He proceeded to Adibo where he visited the Tomb of Kambong Nakpem Ziblim who led the warriors for the Dagombas in the 1896 war with the Germans. 

Addressing the press after the Visits, the Minister promised to develop all these sites so that Dagbon will benefit fully from them.
