A medical Practitioner of the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region, Dr. Elorm Frederick has advised Ghanaian youth to desist from tobacco smoking and all other forms of smoking to save them from untimely death.

According to Dr. Elorm, smoking in any form can contribute to heart-related diseases, like Kidney problems, brain dysfunction among others therefore there is a need for the youth to obtain from it.

"Smoking in any form can fetch you heart-related diseases, like Kidney problems, brain dysfunction among others so stop smoking."

He made the call as the world is commemorating No Smoking Day today.            

Every 2nd Wednesday of March every year marks World No Smoking Day.

This year's, 10th March is dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers or harmful effects of smoking tobacco products like cigarettes, cigars, or beedis.

Also, the day is marked to help smokers quit the harmful habit. It's also meant to discourage people across age groups to not pick up the habit of smoking cigarettes, beedis, or anything involving tobacco.

The theme this year is quitting smoking doesn’t have to be stressful.”
