There is tension within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Executives and ward members at Akuapem North Constituency in the Eastern Region over party membership registration.

Some aggrieved polling station executives since, September 20, 2021, have vehemently accused the party’s constituency officers of keeping the register at their individual homes instead of the party's office and depriving many members of re-register their membership.

They are therefore demanding the register for the various polling stations to jointly do it without prejudice or favour.

General Secretary for NPP John Boadu, in a press conference about weeks ago, directed polling station executives to take custody of all registers to afford party members to review their details and new members to get registered.

But at Akuapem North Constituency, the story is different, forcing some polling station executives to publicly criticised the party officials in demand for the register.

The angry polling station executives have threatened the party officers to as a matter of urgency release the register or they shall be forced through heckling if the need arises.

Some of the aggrieved polling station executives who shared their sentiments with Soiree news Regional Correspondent William Ofori explained, that “John Boadu has spoken and the directive is simple: all the registers must be kept at the polling stations but our constituency executives are keeping the documents to themselves so we are protesting for the membership register but Nothing else", he stressed.

Another angry polling station executive who identified himself as Emma explained, that “the Tutu Akuapem chairman told us earlier that the register is in but now he is telling a different story. Instead of him giving us the document, he’s dragging his feet, so we decided to protest until the needful matters are addressed”.
