Concern Amasaman Youth To MP: "Desist from passing the E-levy or face our fury."

Concern Youth of Amasaman Constituency (COYOAMAC), a youth group in the Amasaman municipality in the Greater Accra region, has issued a strong warning to their Member of Parliament (MP), Afrifa Mensah, to refrain from passing the contentious Electronic Transaction Tax (E-levy) or face their wrath.

According to them, this will allow the area's youth to continue to support MP without reservation.

After being announced by finance minister Ken Ofori Atta in the 2022 budget, the contentious Electronic Transaction Tax (E-LEVY) has received widespread opposition from civilians, including politicians, civil society organizations, market people, mobile money vendors, and Okada riders.

Ghanaians have once more proven their worth.

President of COYOAMAC, Abroni Thomas, popularly known as (DJ Yogo), said their MP must know his opinion on the insensitive, unpopular, and neck-breaking E-Levy before voting for him in the 2020 elections because he has failed to offer the youth in the region promised.

He went on to say that if the e-levy is passed, it will make most of his constituents poorer because the majority of them are craftsmen, DJs, musicians, and MCs, and he has asked the Akufo-Addo government to redraw it.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Kwame Akyea, an economic consultant, stated the government's economic plan on the e-levy is wrong.
