The District Chief Executive of Twifo Ati-Morkwa has advised people who want to invest in mining to follow the required process than destroy water bodies for selfish gains.

The stopgap District Chief Executive for Twifo Ati-Morkwa District in the Central Region of Ghana, Honourable Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi has dejectedly disclosed that, upon all the government and stakeholders efforts to get rid of illegal mining along river Pra, some people in the Twifo Ati-Morkwa District resistantly wake up at night and sneak to the riverside to mine illegally, which he describes as "unwelcoming behaviour.

He advised that, if one wants to do mining as a major business then the person should follow the legal documentation processes.

The DCE further lamented on how these Galamsey activities are threatening lives through the creation of death traps along the river shores, which according to him if one is walking around and does not take care, it can entrap and cause his or her untimely death.

Honourable Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi finally urged the residents in the district to join hands with the Twifo Ati-Morkwa District Assembly and fight till river Pra regains its natural state because the government can not fight the galamsey menace alone.

Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi advised that if the Twifo Ati-Morkwa District does not protect their own natural resources and leave it to strangers to illegally acquire it worth, they will suffer in the coming years.
