Six Police Officers Interdicted for Involvement in Tamale Shootings

The Police administration has Interdicted six police officers involved in the shooting incident at Lamasheigu in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region.

There are General Corporal Samson Kweku Darfour, Corporal Prosper Mormesimu, Constable Harison Twum Danso, Constable Mathew Sah, Constable Nuhu Muntari and
PW Constable Doris Serwaa Bonsu.

The six officers yesterday Sunday chased a vehicle driver to the Lamasheigu Chief palace and shot him at the waist, which eventually spark anger in the area.

This led to further gunshots by the police when the youth of Lamasheigu poured on the street to protest against the police conduct. 

Three persons in the process sustain various degrees of gunshots and are currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, however, one person identified as Abdul Hakim died at the same hospital through gun wounds.

In a statement signed by the Director-General of Public Service, DCOP Kwesi Ofori appealed for calm in Lamasheigu and the Tamale Metropolis.

According to him, the Northern Regional Police command has been tasked to liaise with families of the victims and offer them the needed support.
