THE Central Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has showcased massive social and infrastructure intervention developmental
projects and programmes the current ruling government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo invested to carry in the various communities within the region.

The Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mr Richard Takyi-Mensah, who addressed a press conference on Tuesday June 11, 2024 at the Awutu Senya East Constituency office of the NPP at Kasoa outlined the account of the many social and infrastructure projects that the government has executed in the region.
Setting the record straight, Mr Takyi-Mensah
explained that the account is limited to projects executed in the area of Education, Factories, Health, Sports and Roads between 2017 and 2021.
The NPP noted that the proactive initiatives in health, education, road networks, youth employment, water, sanitation, electrification and community mobilization underscore its commitment to improving local lives in various communities within the region.
According to the NPP, these social and infrastructure intervention developmental
projects and programmes are visible in their implementation villages and towns in the region which have changed the living conditions of the people in the region.
Mr Takyi-Mensah, noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot compared itself to the NPP in regards to the issues of bringing developmental projects and programmes to the region.
He thanked thank the chiefs, queen-mothers, Clergy, Imams and the good people of Central for the hearty and warm manner in which they received the Leader and Flagbearer of the  NPP and Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, when he embarked on a campaign tour in some parts of the region last week.
According to him, the rousing welcome accorded Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a clear indication that the good people of Central Region have really bought into his bold and decisive policies outlined to solve the problems of the country when voted into office as the next President of Ghana.
He stressed that happy nature in which the people poured out to welcome and interacted with him, many shaking hands, hugging and yet others taking selfies with Dr Bawumia foretells that Central Region appreciates the good works of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government in the Central Region.
"It is an undeniable fact that Central has gotten its fair share of development under the government of their Excellencies President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Bawumia.
"For the entire coastal stretch of the country, comprising four regions, namely Volta, Greater Accra, Central and Western, having twelve landing sites dotted in various towns, Central Region alone is a beneficiary of seven landing sites with that of Elmina as a fishing habour," he stated.
According to him, these landing sites are in Moree, Gomoa Fetteh, Senya Beraku, Mumford, Winneba, Abandze and Elmina.
He pointed out that level of investment to strengthen the artisanal fishing industry has not just been left at the construction of landing sites and fishing harbours but the communities where "our dear fishermen and their families stay to ply their trade for all the years preceding the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government had become so exposed and vulnerable to the marauding and abrasive effect of the tidal waves of the sea.
In response to this, he stressed that the Nana Addo-Bawumia government has invested over a billion Ghana cedis in the construction of sea defence right across from Komenda through Cape Coast to Anomabo covering about twenty kilometers.
"We were the region where the commencement of the implementation of the One District One Factory begun with the sod cutting and commissioning of the Ekumfi Pineapple Juice factory with the others in tow such Casa de Ropa in Gomoa West District, Petersfields & Grey in Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem Municipality, cylinder manufacturing company in Awutu Senya West, Lubricant Company in Gomoa East, Palm Fruit processing factory in Hemang Lower Denkyira District and a host of others.
Under the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government, he indicated that the region has seen investment in the energy sector where as much as 20 megawatts of solar energy way back in 2018 was added to the national grid through government -private sector collaboration.
"Here, we are referring MEINERGY in Gomoa West District,' he said.
He added that "In the education sector, do we need to say it? Central Region with our accolade as the citadel of education, we have had a major push in the area of infrastructural development, especially in the construction of dormitories and classroom blocks in all Senior High Schools in the region."
Beside this, he mentioned that teachers’ accommodation has also seen a fair improvement where a construction of a dormitory comes with teacher’s accommodation attached.
In the health sector, he pointed out that there are Agenda 111 hospital projects ongoing in Assin North, Gomoa Central, Awutu Senya West, Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira, Assin South, Upper Denkyira West and Agona East.
According to the NPP scribe, these hospital projects are at various stages of completion. It is important to note that the Twifo Praso District Hospital project, which was started by President Kufuor, was virtually abandoned by the NDC government under John Mahama and it took President Akufo-Addo to come and complete it and commission it for use in 2020.
Under the Chinese Synohydro arrangement, he mentioned that the region has had its fair share that today certain unpaved and existing roads that for many years had not seen rehabilitation and had virtually become unmotorable in the northern part of Cape Coast, the Regional Capital, have either now been paved and or rehabilitated under the synohydro arrangement which was spearheaded by the next President of Ghana, Dr Bawumia.
"Here we are talking about such communities as Akotokyire, Kwaprow, Apewosika, Ebubonko, Dankwakrom, Duakor, Kwesi Pra, Amamoma and others.
"Also, as many of our old but very important towns have seen asphalt overlays such as Anomabo, Mankessim, Agona Swedru, Gomoa Ekwamkrom, Winneba, parts of Cape Coast South, Kasoa, just to mention but a few," he added.
He said "The region by our link to Ashanti region and beyond has also been improved by the construction of a first-class road from Assin Praso to Assin Fosu.
The newest, according to the Central Regional Secretary which is the talk of the region and indeed the entire country is the all-important portion of the N1 from Accra to Winneba which will not only ease traffic on that stretch but will make commuting to and from Accra easy and convenient for both drivers and passengers alike and facilitate transportation in the entire sub region.
He said whilst former President John Dramani Mahama told the teeming youth of the region that he was not a magician to put money into their pockets, a large number of the youth from the region have gained employment into the security agencies, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Health Service, Local Government and a host of other agencies for them to earn income under the visionary President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia.
He dared the NDC and Former President Mahama to tell us their track record in the region for the eight years that they were in office.
"Now to current developments. We wish to first reiterate our long-standing record of participating in the democratic governance of our country though the strength of our thoughts and contribution by way of ideas which is what constitutional and democratic governance is all about.
As a party in this region, he noted that they  have never subscribed to the use of violence to achieve any political ends or goals and this is an enviable record which is not in doubt.
According to him, this is also in line or in tune with the well-known character of the region as one that cherishes peace.
He noted that it is on the account of this that "we draw the attention of all of us to the deployment and use of violent by our opponents in the NDC.
"This, we may not be too surprised about because it is in their nature (a matter that has been publicly alluded to on a number of occasions by their perennial flagbearer).
"But the case appears to be getting out of hand today in the region probably because of the leadership of that party where a whole Regional Chairman was engaged in incendiary language before and during the Assin North By-election where on one of such occasions referred to the people of Ashanti Region in very derogatory terms and has on many of his public appearances engaged in sabre-rattling.
This, he stressed "we feel has become the inspiring undertone for the level of violence we are witnessing in the region perpetrated by NDC and persons aligned with that party. Examples in recent days abound.
