THE pupils at the Panpanso Ningo Municipal Assembly (M/A) Basic school in Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality have lamented that education for them is riskier than being on the farm.
The Panpanso Ningo is a farming community in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.

According to the pupils, the Panpanso Ningo M/A Basic school cannot boast of safe and well-equipped classrooms, library, ICT laboratory, and playground.
The situation is dire for, especially those in Kindergarten one and two of the school who are forced to sit on piled-up cement blocks to learn, under which they are being taught, as furniture.
It was disgusting that some of the pupils were seen to have sat in pairs on piled-up cement blocks to study.

This came to light when some residents and teachers of the area lamented about the condition under which pupils were being taught.
According to the residents, the structure does not in any way qualify to be called a school as it is evident that the pupils only go there to waste time, play in the dirt and eat.

“No teacher can teach under this condition and no child can learn here,” he stressed.
A visit to the school revealed that apart from the pupils in kindergarten sitting on piled-up cement blocks to study under a dilapidated classroom, primary one to six have also studying under a dilapidated structure which is on verge of collapse.
Speaking in an interview with the Soireenews. com, some concerned residents complained of heartbreaking sight of kindergarten pupils at Panpanso Ningo M/A Basic School sitting on blocks to learn.

"Our hearts are actually breaking, we are so sorry that as beautiful as you are, you really going through this suffering situation, " they sorrowfully said, adding that, "This is a heartbreaking issue so we are appealing to the authorities, the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), philanthropists, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and corporate institutions for assistance," stressed.
"We think that in 21st century in the year 2024, it doesn't make sense to them for these little children are writing and learning on piled-up cement blocks. We don't want to sound political, but these educational problems need to be addressed by the central government.

"Because no serious countries would allowed their future leaders to go through this suffering situation to learn. If the political leaders are claiming that they are building a strong foundation for future generation, how would you want to make your younger ones sit on piled-up cement blocks to study.
"We believe that our leaders are not being fair to these children who are going through this pressing problem," they stated.
They argued that they political leaders are not being cared for these children.
"We think that It is the responsibility of our successive governments to create conducive environment that would help the children to learn on everything that they had been taught," they argued.
"Look at these children in Kindergarten one and two of the school who are sitting on piled up blocks to study. Their books are being put on piled-up cement blocks in their classroom for which they are sitting, reading and writing on the blocks. Let’s join forces to create a better learning environment for these innocent children, they told Soireenews.com.
For her part, a female teacher at the school, Madam Mawulawoe Justina complained that condition in which pupils of the school study hoping that the education they receive will ensure a better future for them is beyond deplorable.
The six-block classroom which was built, part of the roof has been ripped off- the effects of severe weather. Inside the classrooms, there are just about a few broken desks.
Even pupils in the kindergarten department, between one and two years, do not have seats at all. They have to sit and write on pile-up cement blocks.
She lamented that the situation is frustrating for the teachers as they watch the children, especially those in kindergarten, struggle to sit and learn.
