the Ablekuma North Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have threatened to boycott the 2024 general elections, saying their decision was as a result of total neglect of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The members of the Mallam Market Traders Association descended heavily on President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government for woefully refusing to take measures to ensure that the rehabilitation of the market since the fire engulfed the market in the year 2012.
At a massive peaceful demonstration this morning the traders wielding placards with various inscriptions "No Mallam Market, No vote, We are tired of empty promises of government were demanding the current NPP government to rehabilitate the market else they would not partake in the 2024 polls.

According to them, anytime it rains, the entire market got muddy and slippery, resulting to their customers to fall down in the market, embarrassing themselves in full glare of the public.
"We are saying if the government and the MP of Ablekuma North Constituency  refused to help them, they will not allow anyone to come and compaign in the market for the 2024 general elections," the traders vowed.
The visibly worried traders called on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ablekuma North, Mr.Kwasi Ofori and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North to, immediately come to their aid to do something the alarming situation.
For his part, the Chairman of Mallam Market Traders Association, Mr. Natthenie Wystan Beaumont told Soireenews.com that he was full in support of what the traders have said because they are suffering since the fire engulfed the Mallam Market in 2012.
Mincing no words, Mr Beaumont pleading to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to pay the contractor to continue the construction of the Mallam Market project which has been abandoned.
'We want to emphasize that if the the MCE for Ablekuma North Kwasi Ofori and the MP have refused to come to their aid, then we are sending this signal that no politicians should try and come to compagn in the Mallam Market," the Chairman further stressed.
