Calls for government to deal thoughtlessly with illegal money lenders

There are incessant calls amongst the general public for the government to deal thoughtlessly with illegal money lenders.

The call comes at the back of the increasing spate at which unsuspecting public are being swayed by illegal money lenders thereby pilling undue debts on their heads.

According to a victim who spoke in an interview with Soireenews.com on conditions of anonymity detailing how he fell, victim.

According to him, these illegal money lenders which include... bait the unsuspecting public with juicy terms and conditions cladded with hidden clauses that mostly lock their victims and pile debts on them.

He said after luring their victims, they then lock them with outrageous commissions.

For him, he revealed that he took just a short loan of GHS50.00 payable within... days.

He said that is not a challenge for him, but the severity of the issue is the fact that those who are unable to read are always caught in their web.

He said that the lenders, after noticing you are unable to pay, charge GHS10 per day upon default.

This, according to him, is part of the hidden clauses which are kept away from their victims.

He is by this admonishing the general public to be careful with such legal money lenders.

He is also calling on the government to sanitize the system to save the unsuspecting public.

"Due to the urgency of your need and the desperation for the loan to solve your challenge, you hardly find the luxury of time to read the voluminous terms and conditions, and hence they outwit you", he revealed.

"Are there revenue tax collectors and taskforce, if there are any aware? How can a country full of the finest laws be driven by the illegality of that magnitude?", he quizzed.

He urged authorities to get out of their air-conditioned offices and move to the field where the work is.
