Ghana National Association of Teachers in the Techiman South and North Districts have organized their 53rd quadrennial conference.

The conference which took place at Bamire Social Center was graced by the presence of Nananom, representative Bono East Educational Directorate and GNAT executives from regional and national levels.

Elections were also held at the conference to elect new executives who will run the day to day activities of the association in both Techiman South and North Districts for the next four years.

On behalf of GNAT General Secretary, in charge of membership education and youth desk at GNAT national office, Mr Danbgando Kwame said he was impressed with how the conference was organized.

He revealed that the national executives are working on the responsibility allowances and upgrading issues especially to members who have to pursue higher courses.

He confirmed that issues regarding the promotional test of their members are being resolved. 

On behalf of the newly elected executives, Mr John Owusu Mensah knows in the Techiman Traditional councils as  Nana Owusu Antwi Bosiako II who is the Kentenhene also doubles as Dabehene in the Techiman Traditional Council was re-elected as the District GNAT Chairman, thanked the delegates for their trust in him and given him another mandate to serve the association.

According to him, the executives have secured land from the Techiman Traditional Council to build a GNAT village for members of the association where each member will be entitled to a two-bedroom with a hall house and they will use a period of six years to pay for the house.

He revealed he and his executives have challenged themselves to discharge their duties with the utmost interest of their members and uplift the image of the association.

Nana Owusu Antwi Bosiako further urged all members to rally their support behind the executives and also criticize them constructively.

Nana bemoaned the frequent changes in our educational policy, a behaviour he deems not fit for the country.

He prayed to the government to help raise the standard of Ghana's education n by properly motivating teachers.
