Jadon Sancho will be handed the iconic No. 7 shirt at Manchester United after Borussia Dortmund finally agreed to a transfer deal with the Premier League club worth an initial £72.6million.

The lengthy pursuit of the Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is over as his club finally agree a whooping sum of £72.6m to sign the 21-year-old youngster.

According to the report by The Athletic, Sancho is finally set to become the Red Devils property after signing a five-year contract with the Premier League giants.

United’s lucrative deal with Bundesliga outfit Dortmund means Sancho will become the second most expensive English footballer in history, behind his future club team-mate Harry Maguire, who cost £80m.

Sancho will wear the No. 7 jersey at Old Trafford, which was made famous by George Best in the 1960s and has also been worn by the likes of Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and the Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Borussia Dortmund told Sancho he would be allowed to move on this summer if a club met his valuation, and they have finally been satisfied with United’s bid after a number of approaches.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League last term and reached the Europa League final, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope Sancho and a few more additions can help the United to challenge for major honours next season.

United’s coach still hopes to sign a new centre-back partner for club captain Harry Maguire – Raphael Varane and Pau Torres have emerged as targets while a right-back to create competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka is being considered.
