Leicester City will look to extend the contract of James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu before the recommencement of the Premier League season.

James Maddison was one of the top targets for Ole Gunner Solskjaer before the coronavirus held the season to a halt.

According to the Daily Mail, the Foxes will revive contractual deals with the pair after long term dals were placed on hold because of the break. Maddison was expected to double his £50,000-a-week wages while Soyuncu, the preferred center back for Rodgers due to his underlying qualities is also looking for an improved deal at King Power.

Brendan Rodgers expects his players to fully commit their future to his project and hope to do better in Europe next season following their impressive performance which rewarded them 53 points after 29 matches to occupy the third spot before the break.

In an interview before the COVID-19 pandemic, the manager addressed that competing in European competition demands a greater squad depth therefore Leicester will focus on adding value to its squad and maintaining the players available.

"We know if we're going to be playing European football next season then we're going to need the depth but January is a very difficult month,” he said.

"I think we'll see if we can improve the squad and if we don't then we'll have to wait until the summer but as I've said before we're in a really good place and we don't want to stockpile. They have to be players that are going to improve the squad," he added.
