Blame citizens, not government, for flooding, says MzVee

The "Come and See My Moda" artist claims that, rather than the government's inaction, irresponsible waste disposal by citizens, particularly that of plastic waste and bottles, has been the main cause of recurring flooding.

Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, better known by her stage name MzVee, voiced her worries about flooding and the dangers it poses to people's lives in a recent interview on Property FM in Cape Coast.

She admitted that although there was some government culpability for the inadequate drainage system, the citizens couldn't be exonerated of the issues because their disdain for safety and irresponsible way of life were a significant part of the issues of flooding.

"Our drainage system needs serious improvement, and the government needs to take note. Even though the government should be held accountable for a number of things, I believe that the citizens also share some of the guilt.

She remarked, "If you look at how many plastic bottles there are, I don't think the government came to put them there. I think we're all to blame for these things."

She continued by highlighting the role that residents have in reducing the issue by improperly disposing of waste, particularly plastic bottles, and she urged citizens to take responsibility for the country's flood crisis.
