Before she launched "Waye Me Yie," I didn't know Piesie Esther - Sonnie Badu

In an interview with Joy FM, Sonnie Badu claimed that Piesie Esther's award-winning song "Waye Me Yie" was when he first learned of the gospel performer.

The 2023 VGMA Gospel Artiste of the Year winner was praised by the gospel minister for her dedication.

"I didn't know Piesie until I heard a lot of people talking about 'Waye Me Yie'. Piesie is well-packaged from visuals to graphics to everything, so whoever is behind her has to push her because the visuals are fantastic and she is a show girl, you can see that,” he told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z.

Due to his recent support of Black Sherif's VGMA Artiste of the Year victory, he had recently been accused of disliking Piesie Esther.

The Accra International Conference Centre's Grand Arena will host Piesie's future concert on December 9, 2023, according to him.

Piesie Esther, a gospel musician with about 20 years of experience, gained notoriety after her song "Waye Me Yie" was released and went on to win Gospel Song and Gospel Artiste of the Year categories at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music categories.

Even more so, her profile was bolstered by the widespread support she received from the Christian community during the award season.

She was considered the strongest candidate for the top prize, Artiste of the Year, which went to Black Sherif.

Piesie's efforts have been appreciated by Sonnie Badu, although he said on Hitz FM that Black Sherif deserved the prize instead of Piesie Esther.
