Atronie: Passengers Clash With Drivers Over Increment Of Transport Fare   

Drivers and passengers at Atronie in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region have clashed following the increment of transport fares from GHC7 to GHC9.

 The Coalition of Transport Operators on Monday, February 7, 2022, presented a proposal for a 30% increment in transport fares to the Transport Ministry for consideration and approval.
 However, some drivers upon hearing the decision by the coalition increased fares at theirs. 
This illegal increment has confused at the various lorry stations where it is being charged.
 Some angry passengers who spoke to Soiree news described the situation as a cheat.
According to them, Ghc9 from Atronie to Sunyani was too high considering the economic situation they find themselves in.
 They have therefore threatened to walk from Atronie to Sunyani rather than pay the illegal GHC 9.
 Meanwhile, leaders of the various driver unions have charged commercial drivers to maintain the existing transport fares until the government approves the proposed 30% upward adjustment.
