Erica Garcia is wanted by Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta.

The 19-year-old Spaniard has been identified as a part solution to the Gunners leaky defence, having let in seven goals in four matches, losing three and drawing one in the Premier League.

Arteta has come under intense pressure by the Gunners Chiefs with the team are seven points away from dropping into the relegation zone.

Eric Garcia has earlier turned down an extension at Manchester City with his current contract ending at the end of the season. Barcelona is where the player has set sights but failed to land him due to City’s asking price last summer.

The Catalan club would want to secure the player’s signature as a free agent but it looks like the defender would not be at City till the end of the season.

The Sun reports that Arteta is in dire need of Garcia, having worked with him during his time as the assistant coach to Pep Guardiola and is desperate to land him in January to steady the Gunners ship.

He is currently behind Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Diaz and John Stones at the Etihad and chances of witnessing first-team football is unlikely this season.

The news outlet also reported that with Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi unwanted by Arsenal, they would have to be offloaded from their wage bill before money could be raised to land Garcia in the summer.
