Timo Werner has ruled out his participation in the Champions League with RB Leipzig when it resumes in August.

The RB Leipzig forward has already agreed a deal in principle to join Chelsea in the summer after Liverpool withdrew their interest due to his price value in ‘today’s Market.”

If all things go as expected, the German would be a Chelsea player then and will not partake in the European competition.

The German striker’s £53million release clause expires today as Chelsea are prepared to acquire the services of the player.

According to Sky Germany, the player will not play for RB Leipzig when the Champions League returns in August.

Leipzig have earlier qualified for the Champions League quarter-final stage after a 4-0 aggregate win over Spurs before the ban on sporting activities was enforced in March.

The Champions League quarterfinal dates are expected to be confirmed for August 12-15 at a UEFA Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday.

The Germany international will is expected to sign a five-year-deal worth £200,000-a-week, becoming the second summer addition at Chelsea.
